Effingham Elks to Host Free Children’s Orthopedic Clinic | Health, medicine and fitness
EFFINGHAM – The Effingham Elks 1016 Lodge, in cooperation with the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation, will sponsor a free children’s orthopedic assessment clinic on Thursday, September 23.
The Clinic starts at 8 a.m. and is by appointment only. To make an appointment, call the Illinois Elks Children’s Care office at 1-800-272-0074 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no charge for the services of this clinic.
The Elks will operate the clinic at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Bonutti Clinic, 1303 W. Evergreen Ave., Effingham. Dr Timothy Gray will be the responsible clinician.
No medical referral is required for the clinic, but physicians are encouraged to refer patients to the clinic for a specific reason or a second opinion. School nurses are encouraged to refer children and families to the clinic.
The Elks organization has worked with children with physical disabilities since 1928 and is one of the clinic’s 17 locations in Illinois. The clinic is a great time to have a child checked for bone and joint development. If your child has their feet pointed forward or complains of back pain, knee pain, leg pain, ankle pain or a curvature of the back, you can see them at this clinic.
The Elks will provide financial assistance to the best of their ability for children in need of additional treatment or specialized equipment when the family does not have sufficient resources to do so. In the past, the Elks have purchased therapy services, corrective shoes, braces, wheelchairs, and augmented communication devices to help children overcome various physical challenges.
