VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 19, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Atico Mining Corporation (the “Company” or “Atico”) (TSX.V: ATY | OTC: ATCMF) is pleased to announce that it has received the Environmental Impact Assessment (“EIA”) approval for the construction and operation of its La Plata mining project located in Ecuador (the “La Plata Project”).

The La Plata project was identified by the President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, as a strategic project and a component of the country’s reactivation plan. As part of this plan, President Lasso pledged to accelerate the recovery of the country’s economy by harnessing the potential of its mining industry while positioning Ecuador as a major mining investment destination in Latin America.

The basic EIA process started over 3 years ago and involved independent environmental experts as well as qualified professionals mainly from Ecuador, Canada, Peru as well as our El Roble mining operation which has been recognized as one of the safest mines in Colombia.

The La Plata project plan consists of a 900 tpd underground mining operation with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the most significant infrastructure being the construction of a screened tailings processing facility, a first of its kind in Ecuador. This technology, already in use at our El Roble mine in Colombia, enables efficient water use by significantly reducing water consumption through the recirculation of nearly all of the process plant’s water needs. .

Mr. Alain Bureau, President of Atico Mining said: “Our team is very pleased to announce the receipt of the EIA approval for the La Plata project. This announcement is the culmination of a long scientific process to identify all aspects of the project that could be optimized and provide solutions for responsible mining. We also wish to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of our employees, consultants, surrounding communities and the support of the Ecuadorian environmental authorities.

EIA approval is a key step for the Company to begin construction of the new processing plant. This approval allows the Company to move forward on its normal course to complete the underlying licenses and necessary secondary permits. The La Plata project also includes the upgrading of other infrastructure, including the upgrading of the access road, a 69 kV power line and a flotation plant with its screened tailings facilities. The GAD and the region’s water management association are currently working on water infrastructure projects. These water projects will upgrade and modernize existing water supply facilities providing better quality of water delivered to operations and surrounding communities.

Atico Mining’s success and culture is based on investing in the sustainable development of the communities where it operates through responsible mining with a strong focus on the surrounding environment.

Hege natural mineral water is known for its purity. It comes from the bedrock of the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. Thus, it retains a very unique, natural and soothing flavor. It is neither touched nor treated. It is free from the risk of foreign pollutants. It inevitably passed through layers of rock, clay and sand. It also stays free of bacteria naturally.

In an exclusive interview, Shailendra Rao, Founder of Hege natural mineral water, tells Bizz Buzz about the benefits of drinking natural mineral water. He also informed about the dangers associated with the consumption of groundwater and packaged drinking water. He further revealed the Hyderabad-based startup’s ambitious expansion plans.

As a commercial pilot, how did you get into the bottled water business?

After graduation, I started my career as a commercial pilot and later obtained the Certified Flight Instructor License to train pilots. While working in Miami, my friend and I started a water bottle business in Hyderabad with a simple investment during a leisure vacation in 2013. This remote bustle helped me gain great knowledge about the world water business.

We lived on a farm in the Organo community near Moinabad, where everything is natural except drinking water. The integrated ecosystem is consciously created with sustainable things like solar power and organic products like pesticide-free food. Although we eat organic vegetables and milk, I know that we do not consume natural water.

At that time, I observed that the packaged drinking water available was not really pure. A lot of treatment is required, resulting in 200% wastage of water from RO (reverse osmosis) purifiers. In addition, various dangerous chemicals are to be added for its taste, pH and shelf life. Even the water from RO purifiers in homes does not have the quality needed by our human body.

Could you shed light on the issues related to the consumption of groundwater, packaged drinking water and reverse osmosis water?

The conditioned drinking water process includes raw water chlorination, RO filtration and ozonation. While purifying water by removing chemicals like arsenic, cadmium and lead, all essential minerals like calcium, bicarbonates, magnesium, potassium and other trace elements are also removed.

Ozonation process is done to increase shelf life, chemical dosage to maintain pH value and synthetic chemicals to add artificial minerals. Alkaline purifiers are the fabulous new and trending in the commercial market claiming that alkaline water is very beneficial and even helps in curing cancer, but no scientific evidence or its health benefits are proven by any medical authority.

All major RO brands follow filtration throughout the process of removing chemicals as well as minerals similar to the process of packaged drinking water making it dead water unfit for drinking. Consuming these waters for longer causes bone problems, cardiovascular problems, malnutrition, underdevelopment, miscarriages and cancers.

In these modern times, our groundwater is polluted to an unconsumable extent due to pollution by industries and the use of fertilizers and pesticides. In a few areas ground water is also contaminated down to 2,000 feet below sea level. potable water.

Could you tell us more about your research on natural mineral water?

Spring water is mainly found in areas with zero pollution and is widely used in West, Middle East and Southeast Asian countries on a daily basis. This is usually untreated, chemical free and contamination free. They have good nutritional value as well as balanced total dissolved solids (TDS) and pH (a measure of acidic/basic water).

The best TDS level might be below 250 parts per million (ppm) and above 50 ppm. In packaged drinking water and reverse osmosis purifiers, the TDS is around 10-50 ppm. Ideally, our blood has a pH between 7.35 and 7.45 and we need a balanced pH to maintain the acid balance in our body. But, some brands of water purifiers provide water with a pH of 8.5 and above.

Natural mineral water in India is only found in a few authorized sources, mainly in the Himalayas and the foothills. These confined aquifers are free from pollution, chemicals, pesticides and contamination. The water from these springs is enriched with naturally good minerals and micronutrients, making it directly drinkable and healthy.

Three glasses of water contain the same amount of calcium available in one cup of milk. Groundwater contains calcium, magnesium, potassium and bicarbonates, but the RO purifier removes all these essential minerals from our body. During my stay in the Himalayas for a year and a half, I searched for natural mineral water and that’s how we found the source of Hege.

When Hege was conceptualized and how did you get back into the bottled water business?

Understand the demand and focus more on lifestyle and consumable population moving to organic living and mindfulness, Hege’s idea was born in 2018 and it took a few years to visit all the water sources allowed. Finally in March 2020, we found the underground water source in northern Himachal Pradesh.

This confined aquifer is free of any pollution. The water is only mechanically filtered using fine sand to remove all organic particles and does not treat the water with any chemicals or other treatments. As a brand, Hege was incorporated in September 2020 and we started marketing operations in Hyderabad and Bengaluru from February 2021.

Is the pandemic a blessing in disguise for your business?

Immediately after the launch of Hege there was the second wave of Covid, we had to stop all our operations and start again in July of the same year. Suddenly we observed people becoming much more aware and switching to healthy water. There was a massive awareness about the consumption of pure and natural water.

People boiled osmosis water and mixed holy basil leaves (tulasi) before consuming the water. Many health-conscious households searched for pure natural mineral water on Google and other social media platforms. We started receiving multiple online orders in no time. We have added 500 customers in Hyderabad alone, and the number continues to grow.

What are the benefits of Hege natural mineral water?

Hege is certified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), IS0:9000 and ISO:22000. It is subjected to 21 strict quality parameters before being filled and delivered directly to our customers’ homes in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Our pure natural mineral water is loaded with essential minerals like calcium and magnesium with the highest bioavailability to the human body. These minerals are helpful in stabilizing blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease. Loaded with 263 mg per liter of bicarbonates, Hege’s naturally alkaline water offers the best natural remedy for acidity problems.

In addition, this water contains micronutrients and does not require any artificial enrichment. At 70mg per litre, it’s as good as a low-calorie calcium supplement. It is natural alkaline drinking water with a pH of 8, and it inactivates enzymes related to acid reflux. Likewise, the bicarbonates in alkaline water also act as an antacid which relieves heartburn and acid indigestion.

What is the total capacity of the confined aquifer and the current use of the capacity?

The survey of geologists expressed a capacity of 6 lakh liter per day. At present, we only use up to 25,000 liters per day. Of this total, our customers in Hyderabad consume around 17,000 liters per day, while the rest is consumed in Bengaluru. On average, a family spends around Rs 4,800 per month to consume our natural mineral water.

What is the investment made so far? Do you plan to raise funds soon?

Hege is an ambitious startup. So far, we have started our business and have not raised any investment from external sources. Shortly, we plan to raise pre-Series – A funding before August of this year to fuel our growth plans.

What are the company’s expansion plans in the coming years?

Hege is launched with a global vision and we are looking to launch into the overseas market like the Middle East and Southeast Asia by the end of this calendar year. We are waiting for licenses from the respective countries. Over the next few months, we also aim to expand to three major cities in India: New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

Hege is the first natural mineral water brand in India to be launched in 20 liter canisters. Compared to brands like Himalaya and Vedica (Bisleri), its price is 40% cheaper. At the same time, it is launched in portable formats – PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and glass water bottles of 500 ml, 750 ml and 1000 ml.

Hodder Farm in Featherston, where trials of overland sewage irrigation will be undertaken.

Shortlisted options for Featherston’s long-term sewage treatment range from $30 million to $215 million, according to a recent Wellington Water report.

But details of those options and specific costs remain under wraps, although elected officials have advocated for the South Wairarapa District Council. [SWDC] to disseminate information.

Local Democracy Reporting also asked SWDC to release a December report on options and costs under the Official Local Government Information and Meetings Act.

The report was only presented to council staff, not elected members or the public.

READ MORE:
* South Wairarapa councilor quits after move
* Rural community wary of land grabbing for sewage disposal
* Wairarapa Moana for at least another five years of pollution

SWDC refused this request on the grounds of “[maintaining] the efficient conduct of public business through the free and frank expression of opinion by or between or for the members, officers or employees of any local authority”.

Featherston Community Council member Claire Bleakley tabled a notice of motion asking council to “provide the options and cost options presented to them by Wellington Water”.

The community council is due to meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Kiwi Hall.

Featherston’s wastewater treatment process is a time-consuming affair and has been going on for several years.

SWDC applied for consent to upgrade its Featherston wastewater operation in 2017.

In an effort to clean up Donald’s Creek and Lake Wairarapa, the council proposed to gradually move UV-treated sewage from the city to land rather than waterways.

However, overwhelming public opposition to terrestrial irrigation of UV-treated wastewater led to a series of hearings, which were canceled three times.

THING

Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta said the government would create four new public water entities, with local councils taking non-financial stakes in four new public water entities.

In March 2020, the council canned Featherston’s proposals and started again with its new infrastructure partner, Wellington Water.

A long list of options was launched at the end of 2020, led by SWDC and Wellington Water.

Advisors received a shortlist of options and cost estimates in February 2021 via memo.

These have never been made public.

A spokesman for Wellington Water said the options presented to the board in February 2021 were “all very expensive”.

They said the council had requested additional information about more affordable and acceptable options.

In December 2021, after reviewing the shortlist and responding to SWDC’s requests for additional information, Wellington Water presented an amended shortlist to council staff.

The elected officials have not seen this information.

In his recent column in the Featherston Phoenix, South Wairarapa Mayor Alex Beijen said the council “[keeps] obtain proposals that cannot be presented as options to the public because of their extreme costs”.

“Also, we don’t know the government’s new standards for sewage disposal, so we might choose an option just to be redundant before it’s built.”

The Featherston Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently operating on an extended expired consent from the Greater Wellington Regional Council.

The extension is expected to end in 2023.

Wellington Water’s short-term solution maintains the primary spill in Donald’s Creek and overland irrigation trials at Hodder Farm.

Bleakley put forward other motions for tonight’s meeting, including asking that Featherston Community Council ‘request council write to Wellington Water to stop all onshore effluent testing’.

She also called for cost-effective and viable tertiary options to be considered.

Tertiary effluent treatment involves a series of additional steps after secondary treatment to further reduce organic matter, turbidity, nitrogen, phosphorus, metals and pathogens.

Most processes involve some type of physicochemical treatment such as coagulation, filtration, adsorption of organic matter on activated carbon, reverse osmosis and additional disinfection.

Time series analysis and forecasting are important data science concepts that have a variety of applications. There are different techniques used to make forecasts with time series data. Exponential smoothing and moving average are the two basic and important techniques used for this purpose. In this article, we will look at the comparison between exponential smoothing and moving average for time series forecasting. The main points to be discussed in the article are listed below.

Contents

  1. About exponential smoothing?
  2. Implementation of exponential smoothing methods
  3. About the moving average?
  4. Implementation of the moving average
  5. Exponential Smoothing vs Moving Average

Let’s start by understanding exponential smoothing

About Exponential Smoothing

In time series, exponential smoothing can be considered as a method to smooth time series data. We can also think of it as a rule of thumb technique which is an approximate method of doing something. This method uses an exponential window function that we use to assign decreasing weights exponentially over time. This time series smoothing method can also be used to make many determinations based on a prior assumption. But usually we apply it to smooth time series data.

Are you looking for a comprehensive repository of Python libraries used in data science, check here.

Applying the widow can also be thought of as applying a filter to the time series data so that we can remove the noise from the time series data. Let’s say a univariate time series data is xt at time t = 0 and the result of smoothing using exponential smoothing is st . we can also say that the St is the best estimate of the next value in the time series. Mathematically, we can give exponential smoothing as the following formula.

s0 = x0
st = xt + (1-)st-1 ,  t>0

Or,

(0<<1) = smoothing factor.

Simple exponential smoothing can also be thought of as recursive filtering and mathematically can be given as follows

The exponential smoothing at time t (st) can also be thought of as the simple weighted average value of the time series at time t (xt) and the last smoothed value st-1. We can even apply these statistics with two sequential values. One thing that stands out here is that as the value of increases, the level of smoothing decreases and there is no perfect method that can be applied to choose the value of .

This method may also be called exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) without a constant term in some other cases. There are three types of exponential smoothing that we can find:

  • Simple/single exponential smoothing: This smoothing can be used to make forecasts based on a time series without trend or seasonality.
  • Double exponential smoothing: This type of exponential smoothing comes with support for trend components of time series.
  • Triple exponential smoothing: This type of exponential smoothing comes with support for trend and seasonality components of time series.

Let’s see how this method can be implemented.

Forecast using exponential smoothing

We can use the statsmodel library for implementing exponential smoothing methods. In this library under tsa.holt winters package we can get all implemented methods for exponential smoothing. Let’s look at the implementation of single exponential smoothing.

Data import:

import pandas as pd
ts = pd.read_csv('/content/drive/MyDrive/Copy of shampoo-sales .csv')

Import and adjustment module:

from statsmodels.tsa.holtwinters import SimpleExpSmoothing
model = SimpleExpSmoothing(ts['Sales'])
fit_model = model.fit(smoothing_level=0.2, optimized=False)

Plot of smoothed data:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
plt.figure(figsize=(12, 8))
plt.plot(ts['Sales'], color="black")
plt.plot(fit_model.fittedvalues, color="blue")

Production:

Here we can see how the function defined in the library works using the single exponential smoothing method.

About the Moving Average

As the name suggests, it is a method in which the average can be said to evolve. In time series analysis, it is a method of forecasting jobs by capturing the average changes in the time series. In various places, we may also find that this method is referred to as moving average, moving average, moving average (MA) or moving average. It is based on performing a series of averages using the full data subsets. In general, it can also be considered as a computational method for analyzing sequential data.

It also works by applying a filter over a time series and the filter can be thought of as a finite impulse response filter. This filter works by taking the average of a fixed subset of a series of numbers. Let’s say there is a time series which can be split by months, which means we have a set of values and the average of the values of the first month of the time series can be considered as the first moving average of the process of smoothing. Not as time will move through the series, the set of numbers will change and therefore the average value will continue to change.

The image below is a representation of applying a moving average to smooth the time series.

Source of images

Here we can see that the red line is the result of smoothing and we can say that we are applying it to remove the short term fluctuations from the time series so that the long term trend of the time series can be highlighted . There are three types of moving average

  • Simple moving average: This is the simplest form of moving average where the sum of recent values in the time series is divided by time.
  • Exponential Moving Average: This type of moving average focuses more on recent values by providing a greater weight of recent values to the moving average.
  • Cumulative Moving Average: This method focuses on all values in the time series by applying the average of all values and the average should be unweighted.

Let’s see how we can implement a simple moving average using python.

Forecast using moving average

We can perform time series forecasting using moving average method only with pandas library. In the above, we imported shampoo sales data. Let’s plot the data.

plt.plot(ts['Sales'])

Production:

Let’s plot the data after applying the moving average.

ts['Sales'].plot(figsize=(10,6))
ts['Sales'].rolling(window =5).mean().plot()

Production:

In the above, we have seen how we can implement and define both methods. Let’s take a look at the difference between these two smoothing methods.

Exponential Smoothing vs Moving Average

One of the important differences between these two methods can be assumed by using their name. On one side exponential smoothing applies exponential windowing while on the other side we can see average windowing is applied to the data to reduce data noise.

Under exponential smoothing we have methods that provide support with respect to time series components such as trend and seasonality while talking about moving average we can say that methods under this smoothing process are more focused on values with their delays. As the exponential moving average focuses on recent values.

Another thing that makes a big difference between these methods is that the exponential smoothing can be done using even two data points and to start the moving average we need to set the window size which needs to be greater than three to perform the real smoothing.

Here we can say that exponential removes more noise from the data based on the smoothing factor and moving average removes noise using the average value of the data points.

Last words

In the article, we discussed exponential smoothing and moving average. Both of these methods are smoothing methods for time series data. The way the algorithms work makes them both different from each other, as we discussed in our last sentient.

In this Hydroneer Automation Guide, I will walk you through how to build machines that will allow you to automatically mine and process resources.

How Hydroneer Automation works

Hydroneer Automation is water powered. This means that anything you build will need to be near a water source, such as a river, pond, or lake.

Water pressure determines the speed at which a machine operates. Water may also need to be filtered in some cases, to reduce damage to a machine. Pressure boosting and filtering can be accomplished with specialized pipe parts.

This Hydroneer Automation Guide will walk you through the basics of setup – it will be up to you to find the best machine for your needs.

1. Water inlet pipe 2. Valve hook 3. Pressure tank 4. Wrought iron drill 5. Wrought iron harvester 6. Saucepan

Best Automated Starter Hydroneer Mining Setup

The best starter Hydroneer The mining setup can be built inexpensively – you can buy used wrought iron machinery right across from your starting location. The image above shows you exactly how it is configured:

  1. Inlet water pipe – It draws water from the river.
  2. Valve hook – This allows you to stop the flow of water.
  3. Pressure tank – You can put shards or shard bars in this compartment to increase water flow.
  4. Wrought Iron Drill – This actually drills into the ground and automatically extracts clumps of dirt.
  5. Forged Iron Harvester – This takes clumps of dirt and extracts resources from them.
  6. Saucepan – A standard saucepan can catch all the resources coming out of the wrought iron harvester.

How to create your first automatic exercise in Hydroneer

Before you can build your first automatic drill, you will need to earn money from mining by hand. Once you have a few hundred hydrocoins, you can create an automated setup and really ramp up production.

Here’s how to create a basic auto-mining setup:

  1. Place a drill where you want to mine. Remember, the deeper you go underground, the better resources you get!
  2. Place a Harvester directly below the Auger Outlet – this will automatically convert dirt piles into resources.
  3. Start placing pipes and laying a path to a water source.
    • Optionally place pressure tanks, valve hooks, water filter hooks and any other optional accessories you wish to add.
  4. Once the pipes are all hooked up, turn on the machines and they will start mining!

Expand your mining operation with conveyors

This starter configuration is only the beginning of Hydroneer Automation – you can extend it further with the use of conveyor belts. Of course, you can drop down, pick up the pot, and bring it back to the surface to melt items by hand. Once you start bringing in more Hydrocoins, you can instead choose to build a series of conveyor belts that will automatically transport all of your materials to the surface.

Hydroneer Automation Guide - Basic Auto Sort

How to automatically sort resources in Hydroneer

The easiest way to automatically sort resources is to use the Manual Water Sorter. All you have to do is place a nugget of the resource you want to filter into the tray; it will pull that resource from one port and deposit the rest from the other port. Three or four of these machines can be used to separate all early game resources into separate bins; refer to the image above for a possible design of a sorting configuration.

Logic lets you build complex machines

A store in Bridgepour carries various “Logic” devices which are somewhat akin to from Minecraft Red stone. These allow you to precisely configure your production. We won’t go into detail on this aspect of the game, but it’s definitely worth experimenting with once you have the cash to spend!

Maintenance and repair of your machines

Just like the real world, Hydroneer machines will break down. You will need to use tools to repair them; you can find them in most department stores. It’s always a good idea to have a few tools on hand to keep your machines running smoothly!

The Russian army is “filtering” Ukrainians in temporarily occupied or encircled Ukrainian territories, reports the Verkhovna Rada’s human rights commissioner, Liudmyla Denisova.

In a post on her Facebook page on Thursday, Denisova noted that information had been received from partner human rights organizations about a large network of places for “screening” Ukrainians.

“In the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, “filtration” is carried out in the city and district departments of the so-called Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR in Donetsk, Mariupol, Makiyivka, Starobesheve, Manhush, Bugas, Bezymianny, as well as in the filtering camps of Dokuchaivsk, Mykilske, Manhush, Yalta (Manhush district), in the remand center in Donetsk… where the filtering procedure is stricter,” said the Ombudsman in a press release.

According to Denisova, in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region, “filtration” is carried out in the city and district departments of the “Ministry of Internal Affairs of the LPR”, as well as in the “filtration camps” from the Perevalsky district of the Lugansk region, located on the basis of the former Chornukhinska penal colony No. 23.

The ombudsperson said Ukrainians who have voluntarily or forcibly left settlements where hostilities are taking place, or who have fallen under temporary occupation, are subject to “screening”. “This procedure is carried out before the forced deportation to the Russian Federation,” the Ombudsman said.

Denisova said that residents who have passports of the Russian Federation and the so-called LPR and DPR are not subject to “screening”.

“The purpose of ‘filtering’ is to conduct a census of the surviving population to clean up unreliable people in accordance with the lists of employees of state institutions, public services, ATO/JFO participants, Ukrainian activists provided by collaborators, and to check people for loyalty to the Russian authorities,” Denisova said.

According to her, as part of this procedure, Ukrainians are interrogated, their fingerprints are examined for tattoos, their cell phones are checked. Some people, as Denisova noted, have to wait for this procedure for several days.

“In case of passing the” filtration “, a person receives a” pass “, giving him the right to move on the territory of the self-proclaimed” LDPR “. Later, citizens of Ukraine are sent to regions disadvantaged people of Russia. At the same time, Ukrainians receive documents prohibiting leaving Russian regions for two years,” the Ombudsman said.

Denisova said that Ukrainians who have not passed “screening” are taken to an unknown direction, there is no information about them.

“Men of military age are placed in ‘filtration camps’, most often ATO/JFO members, former military and police officers, pro-Ukrainian activists. One of the objectives of the placing and keeping men in these ‘camps’ is to reenact the There, all men are subjected to torture and humiliation, are held in inhumane conditions,” said the Rada commissioner for rights of man.

A new space at CHI Health St. Francis is designed to offer serenity to victims of sexual assault.

The special three-room area, called the Serenity Suite, is dedicated to the medical treatment and forensic examination of survivors of violence.

The suite, which opened Friday, is a $300,000 project funded by the St. Francis Foundation.

CHI St. Francis says the area provides a safe and private space to care for patients who have been victims of sexual assault, human trafficking and domestic violence so that recovery can begin. Located near the hospital’s emergency room, the self-contained space was designed to reduce further trauma and promote patient dignity.

CHI St. Francis opened its new Serenity and Suite Friday morning during a space blessing and tour.

Independent, Josh Salmon

Ed Hannon, president of CHI Health St. Francis, said the hospital wanted to create a space that would give victims of sexual assault privacy. It provides a place for counseling and forensic examinations and for the collection of evidence, if necessary.

Above all, it’s a “private setting where they can get the compassionate care they need from their caregivers,” Hannon said.

St. Francis employees saw a similar setup at a CHI hospital in Omaha, Hannon said. St. Francis nurses who have special training in dealing with sexual assault have requested a facility at Grand Island Hospital.

The request was made to the St. Francis Foundation, which “very quickly said yes,” Hannon said. The Foundation funded the renovation as a gift to the hospital and as “a gift to our community, essentially,” Hannon said.

Hannon noted that central Nebraska is a human trafficking zone. But the Serenity Suite is meant to bring comfort to all victims of sexual assault.

The hospital points out that the Serenity Suite has a restricted-access entrance, which provides increased privacy and security for the patient as well as forensic nurses and other violence response professionals.

The Serenity Suite also includes a “softly ambience consultation room designed with the patient’s comfort in mind when meeting with community advocates, law enforcement and healthcare professionals,” says a Press release.

The medical treatment and forensic examination room is equipped with all necessary equipment for specialized treatment and collection of evidence, the statement said. The patient can stay in the same suite until discharged.

The area includes a private toilet and shower stocked with personal hygiene supplies and clothing.

Another feature is an advanced forensic camera. Funded by the foundation and St. Francis Auxiliary, this single-operator camera uses a filtration source to immediately identify bruises and injuries, the press release says. This helps reduce the risk of retraumatization by eliminating the need for additional photos and evidence collection at a later date.

Independent, Josh Salmon

“Crisis intervention, awareness and violence reduction are critical to the health of our community,” Kiley Grzywa, vice president of patient care services, said in a statement. “From our forensic nurses to our generous donors, we are all passionate about ensuring survivors of violence are protected and receive sensitive, timely and expert care so the healing process can begin.”

The Serenity Suite opened in April, National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. He was blessed in a ceremony on Friday.

The CHI St. Francis Forensic Nurse Examiner program “aims to reduce the physical and psychological trauma of victims of sexual assault, human trafficking and domestic violence through sensitive and timely medical examinations performed by specially trained nurse examiners and through the collaboration of interdisciplinary community response teams,” the St. Francis press release reads.

CHI Health forensic nurse examiners are available to provide service in all CHI Health emergency departments. There is a dedicated FNE room in seven CHI Health emergency departments across the state.
